Northampton Town F.C. have had a mixed start to their 2024/25 campaign in EFL League One. Opening the season with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers, the Cobblers struggled to find their rhythm in front of goal.
However, they bounced back with a dramatic 2-1 win over Exeter City, showing resilience by overturning an early deficit thanks to goals from Callum Morton and Cameron McGeehan
Their next fixture saw them draw 2-2 with Barnsley, after trailing by two goals. Liam McCarron and Jon Baldwin led the comeback to earn a valuable point
In contrast, a goalless draw with Burton Albion highlighted Northampton’s defensive solidity but also their ongoing issues with converting chances.
Most recently, Northampton hosted Wycombe Wanderers, taking an early lead through a Sam Hoskins penalty but ultimately losing 2-1 after Wycombe’s Daniel Udoh and Richard Kone netted decisive goals
Overall, the Cobblers have shown flashes of promise but will need greater consistency if they are to push higher in the League One standings.

The Cobblers are gearing up for an exciting 2024/2025 EFL League One season!
The Cobblers have bolstered their squad with several significant signings as they prepare to compete in EFL League One. Among the new arrivals is Tariqe Fosu, an experienced winger who joins the Cobblers from Brentford, bringing pace and creativity to the flanks. Other notable signings include midfielder Cameron McGeehan from Colchester United, forward Tom Eaves from Rotherham United, and James Wilson from Port Vale. The club has also added Nikola Tzanev as a goalkeeper from AFC Wimbledon and defender Jack Baldwin from Ross County. Young talents like Liam McCarron from Stoke City and Matt Dibley-Dias on loan from Fulham will provide depth and future potential, while the loan signing of Callum Morton from Salford City further strengthens the attacking options.
With these additions, Northampton Town is well-equipped to take on the challenges of League One and aim for a successful campaign.
